Crepe Myrtle
The sign at the Belle Isle Conservatory said that these flowers are Crepe Myrtle, but then I looked them up on Google, I couldn't find any similar flowers. The spelling even suggested as Crape Myrtle.
Both way, there are flowers that are known as Crepe Myrtle, and there are flowers that are known as Crape Myrtle. So the mystery remains, and both types of flowers come in the form of trees/shrubs.
Whatever these flowers are, they are very pretty little flowers! Enjoy your weekend..

I've seen it spelled both ways. I have some crepe myrtles in my yard, but they are different from this flower and I don't think we'll have blooms for at least a couple of months. Your photos are beautiful.

Crape Myrtle or Crepe Myrtle don't grow up here in southern Ontario so I cannot tell you what the flowers are. They are beautiful though. V

ReplyDeleteI always associate crepe myrtles with the South - these flowers, though very lovely, don't look like any crepe myrtles with which I am familiar. They grow everywhere in Georgia, pinks, fuschia, lilac in color - and, happily, for me, I've even seen them on the West Coast.

They don't look like the crepe myrtles I see here in Florida because ours have the "crepe edges" like crepe paper if you tug it. Flowing edges. Althought there must be many variety of the plant. It is a very pretty flower none the less. Thank you for sharing and Happy PS.
